San Antonio has been named one of the best markets for residential real estate investing in 2007 by HomeVestors of America Inc., the company known from its ad slogan "We Buy Ugly Houses."
Houston was the top market, followed by Atlanta, Dallas, St. Louis, Phoenix, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Minneapolis, Chicago and Milwaukee.
HomeVestors is a national company that specializes in buying, rehabbing and selling single-family homes. The company has more than 260 franchises in 35 states.
HomeVestors franchises have bought more than 30,000 homes in the United States over the last 11 years.
The subprime mortgage crisis has fueled a demand for HomeVestors' services, company officials say.
"It was an ugly year for residential real estate, creating record-setting demand for a trusted national home buyer," HomeVestors President and CEO John Hayes says. "We generated more than 200,000 opportunities for our franchisees to buy houses in 2007 and we expect even more opportunities next year. Despite changes in the market, real estate investing continues to grow."
HomeVestors of America was founded in Dallas in 1989. In 1996, the company began franchising its concept.
