07/15/2008

By Kelsey Volkmann / St. Louis Business Journal

HomeVestors of America Inc. has named St. Louis the eighth-best market in the nation for real estate investing in the second quarter of 2008.

The home buyer ranked the markets as follows:

1. Dallas

2. Houston

3. Atlanta

4. Denver

5. Fort Worth

6. San Antoni

7. Charlotte, N.C.

8. St. Louis

9. Milwaukee

10. Chicago and Kansas City, Kansas

Dallas-based HomeVestors, which has bought more than 35,000 homes nationwide over the last 12 years, based the findings on the number of houses bought in each market by the franchise network in the second quarter of 2008.

"This has been a rather ugly year for residential real estate," said John Hayes, president and CEO of HomeVestors.

HomeVestors specializes in buying, rehabbing and selling single-family homes across the nation.
