What's Between Your Ears?

Are you due for a check up from the neck up?

Zig Ziglar
The motivational and personal development guru, Zig Ziglar, says, "Your business is good or bad between your ears."

How is business between your ears?

If business isn't so good, Ziglar suggests you give yourself "a check up from the neck up."

Examine your attitude. If you hear yourself saying or thinking "the system doesn't work" or "my market is different," or "they just don't understand," you may be sabotaging your own business.

To change your attitude, begin with an open mind and talk to winners rather than whiners. Identify the people who are at the top of the franchise network (they're listed on the Franchise Owners page of Homevestors.com under Awards). Call those people. Hang out with those people. Ask them questions about how they adapt the system to make it work in their ever-changing market.

Protect your attitude. Talking to people who are in the bottom 25% of the franchise network probably won't help you.

And if you just can't help yourself, and you can't break out of the negative-thinking/talking mode, at least express your negative thoughts to someone (i.e. try John Hayes) who can help you rather than another franchisee . . . because if that franchisee is protecting what's between his or her ears, they don't want to hear your negative story.
